We recognise the work being produced in the regions by bringing agencies into the spotlight. We only invite the Midlands to compete, we want to find the best work and the best agency of the year in the regions. Who can enter?

Entries are open to all Advertising Agencies, Design Consultancies, Digital Agencies, Direct Mail Companies, Production Companies, Marketing Agencies, PR agencies and media agencies, In-house Creative Teams, In-house Marketing Teams and Media Buying Agencies in the following postcode areas:

South West & Wales:

Midlands & the East

To be eligible for judging all entries must have been published, displayed, broadcast or mailed between 5 September 2015 and 31 August 2016

What are the entry costs?

It is £99 +VAT for your first entry and £90 for each entry thereafter.

You may enter as many categories as you like but each must be treated as a separate entry and payment made for each. If you need any help selecting the most appropriate categories get in touch with one of the team who will be happy to advise.

How to enter

  • Register or log in.
  • The website is now on our new multiplatform so if you have previously registered for these awards, you will need to do so again.
  • Decide what categories you are going to enter. You may enter as many categories as you like but each must be treated as a separate entry and payment made for each.
  • To add an entry, go to the dashboard in the menu at the top of the page and choose ‘Add an Entry’ from the drop down.
  • Add a short description of no more than 60 words as an overview of the project. In the event your entry is nominated this text will be used on the website to give insight into the project.
  • You are also able to acknowledge another agency if the work has been jointly created.
  • You will also need to use the entry report section to write some additional text on your entry. Please see submission formats for category requirements. Please note: This text is used to offer the judges additional context into your work, it WILL NOT be included in the scoring process. Please upload as a PDF document only. 
  • Upload hi-res images of your work and any supporting YouTube or Vimeo video URLs - you will also have to send in mounted artwork etc for judging via post for some categories. Please note: Images and videos supplied will go live on our website and will be used in any ongoing communications in the event of a nomination.
  • At least one image must be uploaded (file limit 10MB. Accept jpg, gif or png files). The first image will be used in listings of entries.
  • Once you have uploaded all of your entries, go to the dashboard in the menu at the top of the page, chose ‘My Entries’ from the drop down, add all to your basket and proceed with payment from there.
  • Once payment is processed you will be sent a confirmation email and a receipt will be posted out to you.
  • If you would like to make any changes to your entry, please do so before you submit as changes cannot be made after this stage.
  • All entries must be made by the deadline on Wednesday 31 August 2016.
  • All entries received after the initial deadline will be subject to a 10% late fee.
  • Entries and payment should be made online and hard copies posted in for judging. Please only send your physical entries once you have completed the online submission.

Press/Craft – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’.)

Craft - Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’ or if relevant send a sample of entered work.

Radio – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of campaign or client/ company logo, upload radio audio in MP3 format and upload script in PDF or Word format (no more than 10Mb). Pay online.

Television and Cinema – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of campaign or client/ company logo, supply embed code of where advert is currently available to view. Pay online.

Outdoor – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’

Design – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’ or if relevant send a sample of entered work.

Environmental/3D Design – Mounted photography (max A2) plus plans/site plans where appropriate

Packaging – Samples or where these are not available, mounted artwork

Digital – Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of entered work, can be a screen grab. Enter URL in text box and any passwords that judges may need to access website, app, e-mailer or online film. Pay online.

Please note that dues to the high volume of entries received we are unable to return submissions unless they are rare or of high value. Should you need your work returned please confirm by email and include a note loosely attached to the entry.

 

The judging process

The panel

The judging panel is made up of industry experts who will use their knowledge and skills to whittle down the entrants and decide on the winners.

 
What are the judges looking for?

The judges want to see innovative work, with a new approach and a concept that stands out from the crowd.

General rules

1. The awards are open to any individual or organisation (unless otherwise stated) based in the following postcode areas:

South West & Wales:

SA, SN, SO, SP, SY, TA, TR, TQ, GY, JE

Midlands & the East:

AL, B, CB, CV, DE, DY, HP, IP, LE, LN, LU, MK, NG, NN, NR,

PE, OX, SG, ST, TF, WR, WS, WV

2. Material entered must have been published, displayed, broadcast or mailed between 28 4th September 2015 and 31 August 2016. Work entered into previous Cream Awards will NOT be eligible.

3. The organisers reserve the right to verify that all entries have been commercially produced for a commercialclient. Proof of publication or transmission may be requested.

4. All advertising entries submitted should conform to the British Codes of Advertising and Sales Promotion. Any entry that has a complaint upheld against it by the Advertising Standards Authority will be disqualified.

5. The organisers reserve the right to retain entries for subsequent publication/exhibition in connection with the awards.

6. Whilst every care will be taken in the storage of entries, the organisers will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of entries.

7. Unfortunately we cannot return entries 

8. The judges reserve the right to re-allocate entries that in their view are incorrectly entered into the wrong category.

9. The judges’ decision is final.

10. Due to the number of entries received, no feedback can be given.

11. The same advertisement cannot be entered into more than three categories under any one discipline although it may also be submitted as part of a campaign.

12. Work entered into more than one category must be treated as a completely separate entry and payment should be made for each.

13. All work will be automatically considered for these categories but cannot be entered directly into.

14. A campaign is made up of three or more entries except a television campaign, which is made up of 2 entries.

15. Best item of self-promotion is work created for the submitting agency by the submitting agency.

16. Only entries into press or broadcast categories with a minimum media spend of £3000 will be accepted. Adverts not meeting this criteria may enter the ‘low budget’, “Self Promotion” and “Viral Marketing” category only. The only exceptions to this are adverts carried out as a ‘one-off’ for a major client, which may be entered into any category.

17. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate individual entry form. As the judging is anonymous, please ensure that the forms are attached loosely to the back of entries.

18. All entries must be supplied in the specified format.

19. Only entries received with the correct payment will be considered by the judges.

20. If any entry is found to be contravening the rules – either during the judging or after the presentation – the submitting company will be disqualified. In this instance, any awards given must be returned.

Entry fees will be non-refundable.

21. You may enter one advert into the outdoor, press & broadcast categories except when entering into a campaign category. If you wish to enter more than one, separate payment must be made for each.
22. Entries must be received by 6pm Friday 31 August 2016. Entries received after this time will be subject to a 10% late fee.

23. All entries must be entered online and paid for. Supporting boards for entries in all categories (except Digital) should be posted to Cream Midlands, 4th Floor, Mercat Building,
26 Gallowgate, Glasgow G1 5AB.

The Cream Awards 2016

The winners will be announced on 16 November at The Jam House, Birmingham.
